Foundations of Art I

Purpose: This course is designed to develop skill in three dimensional realistic drawing, using time proven methods used by Masters of art. Secondarily, a fraction of each class period will be used to learn and appreciate the artistic contributions of past eras, beginning with The Roman Age, incorporating  the biblical approach of the late Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer.

 

Minimum age, fourteen years; 24 hour course, beginning Wednesday, September 03-November 19, 2008, 10:00am to 12 noon. Two hour class for 12 weeks. Cost: $250, half to register, other half by mid-term.

 

Guides, some media supplied by Instructor.

The Art of Script & Ornament

Enjoy  a lifetime of  daily applying the art form of handwriting, embellishment, ornament. Consistent home practice of  classroom instruction will be encouraged.

The minimum age for this class is 11 years. This is a 12 hour class, with each class period lasting 1 hour / 12 weeks, beginning September 03, 2008-November 19, 2008, 1:00-2:00 pm.

Cost of class: $150, half to register, second half by mid-term. Some supplies provided.

Watercolors: PAN ONLY! Reeves 12-pan or 16 pan, $5.09, Blick; or Grumbacher . transparent wc 12-pan, $19.99; or Talens 12-pan transparent wc, $15.49

6,000 Years of Art & History

Appreciate and know history by seeing art through the ages from slides, print media of fine art and 6,000 Year Time-Line. Students will become familiar with Biblical History, patriarchs etc. as well as the New Covenant, and other historical events, B.C and A.D. to the present.

Students will learn contour drawing, some color theory in an encouraging, stimulating environment. We will use lead pencils, colored pencils and transparent pan watercolors. Minimum Age for this class is eleven years.

September 13, 2008, Wednesdays, 2:30-4:00 pm for 12 weeks, 1.5 hours,

18 hour course, $200. Syllabus will be provided.

Paper: Choose one.Multi-Drawing Book, Holbein, 9.25 x 6.5, $14.49 or Holbein 9x 11, $18.49 or All Media Black Spiral, $24.99.

Design Brand Pencil, 2-h, $.85, with Pink Pearl eraser top $.08

Pencil Sharpener, metal KUM

Pan transparent watercolors, Reeves, Talens or Grumbacher are fine.

Brushes, Scholastic Wonder White  Round,#1, $1.39 or #4, $1.59; Scholastic Wonder White or Blick Academic Studies in filbert shape, large size #14 or 16; plus a one inch or larger wash brush, can be inexpensive.

PrismaColor Pencils, $1.09 each: Suggested colors:

Light Umber, Dark Umber, Black, Ochre Green, Dark Green, Crimson Lake, Clay Rose, Grayed Lavender, Butter, Yellow Orange, Goldenrod, Powder Blue, Light Cerelan Blue, and any other colors you think look natural.
