OUR SYSTEM
Our goal is not so much to make each student a black belt, as that will come in time, but to better develop their confidence, character, and self-discipline through a Christian atmosphere….and to train them to protect themselves. Our curriculum approach is designed to work with students at all levels of skill and fitness-from beginner to advanced-to bring out the best in each individual. Each student is taught the basic techniques necessary for rank, but are encouraged to develop a style that better fits their ability.
ANYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM STUDYING THE MARTIAL ARTS!
WHY DO WE TEACH MARTIAL ARTS?
One of the most important points we stress with our students is that martial arts should only be used for two reasons, (1) to protect yourself and (2) to protect someone who cannot defend themselves. The best self-defense is to APOLOGIZE, even if you’ve done nothing wrong, or RUN. Knowing martial arts doesn’t mean you can out-fight everyone you encounter, it only means you have a better than average chance to survive or be successful in a confrontation or life threatening situation because you have been trained to defend yourself.
WHAT MARTIAL ART STYLES DO WE TEACH?
HAPKIDO: A Korean style that stresses quickness, circular, and spinning movements, throws, and extensive street self defenses.
SHOTOKAN: A Japanese style that places an emphasis on power, tournament style sparring, kata (forms), and weapons.
OUR PROGRAM PLACES A STRONG EMPHASIS ON COMMON STREET SELF-DEFENSE, AND OLYMPIC SPORT KARATE.
