HSLDA reports recent change to GA homeschool law for 2012-2013 school year
From the HSLDA e-lert service…
Effective with the 2012–2013 school year, parents will no longer have to submit monthly attendance records to their local public school superintendent. Instead, the records will be submitted only once a year to the Georgia Department of Education. Additionally, the initial and annual declaration of intent to conduct a home study program will be filed with the department of education instead of the local superintendent.

Education Conversations
Hanno & Peggy are starting a series of "Education Conversations". Tonight is our first evening and we look forward to it. We are planning to have several of these workshops in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss and talk about issues that most of us face while home educating our children.
The topic for the first evening will be "Making the Most of the Middle School Years", which is one of Peggy's favorite subjects. Because of the central importance of these formative years, Peggy would like to show you the opportunities and challenges that present themselves in those years. These years are also some of the most challenging years because of the physical changes taking place in our students. Lets enjoy an evening of sharing with one another and learning from one another.
There is no charge for attending but space is limited to about 12 attendees and, therefore, registration is required.
When? Thursday 3/22/2012, 7 PM - 8:30 (or 9:00) PM
Where? Alpharetta Homeschool Hangout Bookstore (directions are on our website).
With: Hanno and Peggy, owners of the HSH and 20 years of home schooling experience.
